Powdered Sugar Glaze (Basic Cake Glaze)

A simple Powdered Sugar Glaze is an essential recipe to have in your baking repertoire! With just 3 ingredients and 10 minutes, you can elevate any baked good with a beautiful, sweet drizzle.

Making Powdered Sugar Glaze

Start by sifting your powdered sugar to remove any clumps and measuring out 2 cups worth.

I like to use a “spoon and level” method for measuring sugar and flour instead of “dip and sweep.”

Gradually whisk the liquid into the sugar until a smooth icing forms. Add liquid by the tablespoonful until you reach your desired glaze consistency for drizzling or pouring.

For a classic vanilla glaze, whisk in vanilla extract. This will slightly tint the glaze to an ivory color instead of pure white.
