Ingredients

yellow cornmeal all-purpose flour granulated sugar baking soda baking powder salt buttermilk sour cream large eggs unsalted butter

How to Make Buttermilk  Cornbread

Whisk the dry ingredients together in a large bowl and set aside.  In another bowl, combine eggs, buttermilk, sour cream, and melted butter.

Stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined. For tender cornbread, don't overmix the batter.

Pour the batter into a preheated cast iron skillet swirled with melted butter. The batter will immediately start to set on the edges.

Bake for 20-25 minutes at 400 degrees F, until golden brown. A skewer inserted into the center will come out with just a few moist crumbs attached.
